We wish we had an action photo to prove this but sadly we completely forgot to take one! Fleur had her feet trimmed today by the fabulous Maja and she just stood there, very quietly, as though having her feet trimmed was something that happened every day. This is not a big achievement for most horses but for Fleur it’s a mile stone.
There is nothing left of that pony that came into care 2 years ago. Back then she had to be sedated to have her feet trimmed; the look in her eyes was one of fear and distrust. Today however, looking back at us were soft, gentle, slightly inquisitive but most rewarding of all, trusting eyes.
It is this that makes fostering so rewarding, it has been a very long journey with Fleur, she certainly gave us no shorts cuts! We have had highs but many more lows yet each time we gained / learned something new from her and today we feel blessed for having her as part of our herd.
