You will notice he has a large bump on his face. This bump is not from an injury but is a “relatively rare” condition called Suture Line Exotosis. Any horse can develop this and very little is known about it, it comes up over about a 12 month period and then as it is ” self limiting” it should go away over the next 12 months, of its own accord.
There have been studies done as to what course of action to take to speed up the recovery however, it seems that no matter what is done, the result is the same: it will sort itself out and no action can rush the process.
This bump does not seem to bother Archie nor does it cause him any pain..
Archie is settling into his foster home with ease and forming a nice relationship with his paddock companion Wally.
