Last week the beautiful Fleur had a very big day, Slade came back to further his work on her teeth. As a result of Fleur’s teeth being neglected for such along time they are severely compromised. The great news though, the large cheek ulcers have all healed and work continued to help her mouth feel more comfortable. She has put on weight so her “improved” teeth must be helping her to effectively digest her food.
Just to make her day a little bigger, we asked Maja the wonderful bare foot trimmer to work on Fleur’s back feet whilst she was under sedation. (Fleur is still very nervous about having her back feet held up for any period of time.) Fleur’s feet are now the best they have ever been, we still have to deal with some seedy toe and cracks need to grow out but it is great to see the big improvement her feet are showing.
We think the biggest progress though was Fleur ability to deal with the whole process, compared to last time she was much calmer and got over the event much quicker. Following Slade’s last visited it took at least week before she allowed any human interaction, this time it was as if nothing had happened and we could pick up on her training where we left off. It is wonderful and so rewarding to see Fleur developing trust, she seems to understand that whilst having her teeth done is not a particularly pleasant experience, the benefit she feels afterwards far outweighs the fear of leaving her comfort zone.
